First Stories - Volume 1, four Aboriginal filmmakers explore the realities of their lives in 21st century Canada. With humour and compassion, their films deal with a range of topics including Native culture/identity, Native traditions, Native art and street gangs. The 

release includes four five-minute documentaries: Patrick RossNganawendaanan Nde'ing (I Keep Them in My Heart), My Indian Name and <strong><em>Apples & Indians

Also on the DVD are extra features such as 'The Big Picture,' a behind-the-scenes look at the NFB's First Stories program and 'Meet the Filmmakers,' a deeper look at what inspired each director, and ideas on how young people can pursue a career in filmmaking.
