Peter Benson leaves his family's farm to join the Royal Canadian Navy. After completing his session at H.M.C.S Cornwallis training station and his preliminary exams, he is assigned to the frigate Swansea to take part in realistic naval maneuvers. The focus of the film is on the thorough training he receives.
