Produced for the NFB by Alter-Ciné Inc., with the participation of OXFAM-Canada, War on Want (U.K.), and Development and Peace.

This film illustrates how people in Third World countries can mobilize their resources to care for those weakened by malnutrition and hunger, or those wounded in war--even in a situation where the enemy's war efforts are aimed at civilians. Through its focus on a barefoot Eritrean doctor, the film reveals how health-care services are being developed, despite the ongoing war with Ethiopia.
