How aircraft are employed in detecting and controlling outbreaks of fire. Radio-equipped spotter planes scan the forests searching out telltale signs of smoke. Then a coordinated ground/air offensive is launched. Waterbomber aircraft douse fires from the air, maintaining a holding action until the ground crews are able to move in.
