A mesmerizing record of how the elements came together in the creation of the elaborate dance production Blue Snake. It was commissioned by Erik Bruhn, the late artistic director of the National Ballet of Canada, and choreographed by an internationally acclaimed genius of contemporary dance, Robert Desrosiers. Desrosiers is shown interacting with set designer Jerrard Smith, musicians John Lang and Ahmed Hassan, and the National's dancers, who must learn the alien techniques of a freer dance style. Full of fantastic costumes and bizarre, over-size props, the dance is shown in its entirety, as it was performed for its world première at the O'Keefe Centre in Toronto.
