Nature's barriers bow before human ingenuity as the first Canadian stages of the St. Lawrence Seaway project get underway at the Long Sault Rapids near Cornwall. The film shows some of the elaborate preparations made before construction began, and explains how the International Rapids section of the Seaway, a bottleneck for shipping from the Great Lakes to the Atlantic, will be harnessed, opening up a new world of industrial expansion.
