The men and women in this documentary describe the variety of ways in which new arrivals can contribute to the multicultural quality of Canadian life. By sharing with others some of their own culture and traditions, and by volunteering for community activities, they have eased their transition from native homeland to adopted country. Although the film features East Indian immigrants, the message can indeed apply to all, whether new or long-established citizens. As Bridges suggests, it is by participating that we develop a better understanding and appreciation of others ... and of ourselves.
