The Cabinet of Doctor Ferron
20031 h 21 min 31 secFilm: Documentary
Direction: Jean-Daniel Lafond
Production: Yves Bisaillon
Script: Jean-Daniel Lafond
Acclaimed as a novelist, playwright and essayist, Jacques Ferron was also a practising doctor, political gadfly and founder of the Rhinoceros Party. Combining fiction and biography in this feature-length profile, Jean-Daniel Lafond takes viewers on a poetic pilgrimage into the life and fictional world of the prolific author. Through a narration composed of numerous excerpts from Ferron's works interspersed with interviews, the film reveals a complex and appealing man who was a Quebec nationalist, an ironic polemicist and an anguished humanist, known for his total devotion to literature and his deep commitment to social and political justice.
