A picture of living and working conditions in Canada's four major employment fields. Several newly arrived immigrants travel by transcontinental train to various destinations across the country. The film gives a preview of the new life facing each of them--on a Maritime farm, in a British Columbian mining community, in a Québec logging camp and in an Ontario manufacturing centre. Also included are impressions of Canada's economy, of community life, of living standards and of educational facilities.
