Labour Minister Mitchell Elected I.L.O. President: Rt. Hon. Humphrey Mitchell is shown here addressing delegates to the recent International Labour Organisation (ILO) conference, at which he was elected president. In his speech the Canadian Minister of Labour outlines aims for which the ILO is working. Yellow River Dam Helps Chinese Reclaim Farm Land: With the help of The United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration the Chinese are reclaiming land that was flooded when the Hwang River dikes were broken in 1938 to keep back the Japanese. The American engineer whom UNRRA has put in charge of the project is shown directing operations, and local workers are seen transporting dirt and stone. Mountain Climbers Scale Bugaboo Glacier: A group of British Columbia mountain climbers is seen here enjoying this hazardous sport. Equipped with special boots for safety on ice, and goggles and grease as protection against snow blindness, they set out on their climb of over 10 000 feet to the Bugaboo Glacier. The camera follows them up and records the view they get from the top.
