During autograph day at a Montréal Expos baseball game, young Steve meets his idol who, incredibly, gives him a baseball cap. Steve loses the cap and later sees the son of a wealthy businessman wearing it. When Steve and his unemployed father go to claim the cap, the scene between the two sons and the two fathers is emotional and dramatic. The Cap is a story of a father's struggle for dignity in the eyes of his son and of a son's attempt to hold on to a childhood dream. Based on the short story by Morley Callaghan.
