THIS PRODUCT IS NOT AVAILABLE.The empire of New France was initially built on fur trading. The French realized that they could increase the profitable trade by penetrating deeper into the hinterland to find more Indians willing to trade with them. By the mid 1600s many young colonists took up this adventurous way of life. This follows two coureurs de bois on their winter journey up the Ottawa River and shows how the quest for furs led New France to claim half the continent by the mid 1700s.
