Ottawa builders beat the housing problem by mass-production. Teams of specialists, using materials prepared in mass lots, demonstrate with projects in two price ranges that, in spite of shortages and costs, affordable houses can be built. The second part of this issue shows millions of cords of pulpwood on their way to the mills. Spring thaw hurls logs, cut and stacked in winter, on their way downstream; modern machinery swells rivers with logs all summer long; raw material for more than half the world's pulp and paper manufacture.
