Peter F. Drucker presents a dramatization of a situation in which a manufacturing company falters as it struggles to keep old products competitive while half-heartedly trying to develop new products for the future. Drucker emphasizes that the successful company must devote some of its resources full-time and undividedly to developing opportunities for the future. The company must also have the courage to abandon pet projects which are not succeeding.
