This title is an acquisition.

Recipient of the 1996 Life Achievement Award, independent animator, Caroline Leaf, discusses and demonstrates her artisan's approach to narrative filmmaking. The program is structured as three consecutive workshops in sand animation, paint-on-glass animation and scratch animation techniques which Caroline Leaf pioneered during her 20 year tenure at the National Film Board of Canada. Primarily designed as a training film for students of animation, Hand-Crafted Cinema is lavishly illustrated with excerpts from Caroline Leaf's films (courtesy NFB/ONF and MTV) as a tribute to one of the most innovative and accomplished exponents of the hand-crafted film medium.
