A lone civilian amidst an army of scientists, Fred Davis visits Canada's atomic energy plant at Chalk River, Ontario, to learn how research into the peacetime applications of nuclear energy is progressing. Centered around NRX, the powerful atomic reactor, he finds many awe-inspiring installations and countless investigations being conducted into the production of radioactive isotopes and their use in such fields as industry, medicine and forestry.
