A film record of the 1952 fall plowing competitions at Carp, Ontario, in which plowmen from Canada and the United States--already prize-winners in their own regions--competed for top international honours. The film shows the main competitions and the leading contenders as veteran plowmen, with tractor or horse team, turn the sod into rows of even furrows. Sidelights of the four-day event are seen, including the Ontario mayors' challenge match in which Toronto's Allan Lamport ousted Ottawa's doughty Charlotte Whitton.
