Julie O'Brien, eleven, lives in Tors Cove, Newfoundland. This film is loosely structured around Julie's school assignment to write an essay about the old times in Newfoundland, how they have changed, how they are still remembered. Her story, told in the first person with cutaway shots to her many activities, demonstrates that in Tors Cove the new ways have not crowded out the old.
