Filmed on location in New York City, Paris and London, this powerful documentary focuses on artists who have fled their native lands due to political repression and are now living and performing abroad. Musicians in Exile features musicians from South Africa, Chile and Cuba. Through their music, they have tried to maintain their cultural idientities while struggling to survive in an alien country. From the melancholic songs of home to the exhilarating fusion of world-beat styles, theirs is the sound of music in exile.
