Produced by the National Film Board of Canada for the Royal Canadian Air Force with footage supplied by the RCAF.

The story of the aerial mapping of Canada's vast north. From the vacant outline of three hundred years ago, the map of Canada grew into a detailed chart. Filling the blank spaces of the northern wilderness was the task of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Tri-camera Mitchells of the photo detachments worked systematically back and forth over the terrain, taking pictures of ten thousand square miles of the Earth's face in a single day. These were overlapped to make a continuous "mosaic" of the territory, from which was drawn the accurate map of Canada.
