A hundred years earlier, the Fathers of Confederation gathered in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, to discuss the idea of a united Canada. In October, 1964, Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh came to commemorate that event and the conference at Québec City that followed it.
