Over a one-year period, five teenage girls were filmed at home, in school, at work and with their friends. Astra is perceptive, articulate and a school dropout with a learning disability. Helen, of Korean-born parents, is an honours student struggling to balance two cultures. Rhonda, brash, Black and ambitious, hates math and loves being on stage. Spunky Lina feels like a walking hormone. Erin is balancing her desire to be a model with a drawerful of childhood toys. The girls are startlingly candid as they talk about boys, drugs, peer pressure and self-esteem. A powerful discussion-starter.
