Produced for the NFB by Alter-Ciné Inc., with the participation of OXFAM-Canada, War On Want, Development and Peace.

For over twenty-five years now, the Eritreans have been fighting for independence from the Ethiopian regime, which is reluctant to give up its access to the Red Sea. The film recounts the stories and the aspirations for peace of ordinary men, women, and children. For many years forgotten by the world, Eritrea is typical of other Third World countries where people live in the shadow of war. Through its sensitive presentation of Eritrea's case, The Forgotten War will stimulate thoughts on international negotiations, peace and development, and war.
