Set on a small Canadian west coast island in the 1960s, The Lotus Eaters is a comical story about an entire family losing their innocence. When a young school teacher from Quebec blows onto the island complete with a VW van and a mini-skirt, Hal Kingswood's mid-life crisis takes a turn for the worse and he begins an affair with her. His daughter Zoe turns to black magic spells to make things go back the way they were before. The film chronicles the moment when the staid and safe 1950s turned into the swinging Sixties.
