British Columbia is making large strides in industrial development. To provide power for the aluminum smelters in Kitimat, work is in progress to reverse the flow of a chain of lakes and rivers, and to tunnel ten miles through a mountain. Transmission lines are being strung across the mountains, while helicopter airlifts of supplies and building materials alleviate the difficulties of working in the rugged terrain.
