This film presents Canadian military history from 1796 to Confederation. It concentrates on the area then known as Upper Canada, more specifically the Great Lakes and Niagara region. Forts built for defence against American troops are now picturesque historic parks that bear witness to a stormy past when the longest undefended border in the world was under assault.
