American youth hostellers visit Québec and explore the picturesque Gaspé peninsula. Historic Québec, Gibraltar of the St. Lawrence, provides an interesting stop-over for cyclists making an inexpensive tour of this area of Canada. Then they roll along on their bikes towards Gaspé, coming first to Cap des Rosiers lighthouse. They explore the countryside with its ancient rocks, important fisheries, famous Percé Rock, and Bonaventure Island massed with sea birds. The hostellers take a trip to the fishing grounds and to the bird sanctuary, and see the colourful ceremony of the blessing of the boats.
