In the summer of 1939, the German luxury liner St. Louis sailed from Hamburg to Cuba, carrying 937 Jewish refugees. When the ship was denied harbour, it wandered the seas for thirty excruciating days until the passengers were granted haven by four European countries. When the war began shortly after, many of the refugees found themselves once again in Nazi-occupied territory. A compelling true story combining vintage photographs, rare archival footage and the reminiscences of nine survivors.
