The Windsor Tornado

200630 minFilm: Documentary

Southern Ontario is often home to ferocious tornadoes. In early June of 1946, a tornado touched down just outside of Windsor and tore through the city, leaving destruction in its wake. Seventeen people died and 400 homes were lost. People from Detroit provided valuable emergency assistance throughout the rescue and cleanup. Although no one is sure of how strong the tornado was, some experts believe it rated an F4 on the Fujita damage scale.
