This episode of Trading Places has two families trading orchard for big city. The Link-Mathieu's have a truly urban life, living in the eclectic Toronto neighbourhood of Little Italy. Jonathan is a journalist and musician, often travelling to the world's political hot spots with a ukulele in his carry-on. Michaela is a researcher for a television production company and a freelance photographer. Jon and Michaela especially enjoy exploring Toronto's treasures with their adventurous two year-old, Oscar.

The Spears hail from rural Nova Scotia's Annapolis Valley, home of some of the country's best apples. Wendy is a computer consultant and Bruce is a firefighter in nearby Dartmouth. In their spare time, Wendy can be found painting and Bruce, trap and skeet shooting. Both share an adventurous streak and love traveling, snowboarding and working with their two Labs, Keji and Mingus.

Now, take these two families, get them to the airport, and don't tell them until the last minute where they're going! Anxiety prevails as the Link-Mathieu's and Spears' fly across the country to put on each other's hats. In Nova Scotia, the Link-Mathieu's wrangle fire fighting, firearms and firewalls. In Toronto, the Spears try their hand at rock 'n roll and East Indian cuisine. Everyone has to find a way to get the job done - all with someone else's pen, keyboard, or firehose!
