Trading Places (Series 1) - Episode 4 - Youth for Experience

200347 min 15 secFilm: Documentary

This episode of Trading Places has two families trading youth for experience. Eric and Rebecca are plutonic Toronto roommates who aren't home enough to worry if their two-room apartment is too cramped. Eric is busy as a busboy at a top 5 restaurant and has a side gig as a talented amateur photographer. Rebecca is a dance choreographer and stage manager at Famous People Players with a penchant for beer and a game of pool.

The Lemphers have a sprawling acreage 30 minutes out of Whitehorse. Andrea is founding president of the Humane Society Yukon, and accordingly, has a collection of rescued animals hanging around the yard at any given time. Florian has been a government consultant with the Yukon Housing Corporation for years. They have two grown sons, three cherished grandsons, and a community of colourful Yukoners for friends. They've been on cruises around the world, have lived all over the North, and rarely miss a night of competitive Scrabble.

Take these two families, get them to the airport, and don't tell them until the last minute where they're going! The drama and excitement unfold as the Hannam-Oickle's and Lemphers fly across the country to put on each other's hats. In Whitehorse, Eric and Rebecca lobby government, nurse puppies and shovel horse manure. In Toronto, the Lemphers debut on stage and try to win pool games. Everyone has to find a way to get the job done - all with someone else's script, serving tray, or shovel!
