Lynette Schlichting is a costume tailor for major theatrical productions in Toronto, Ontario. Her brother, Marvin, works as a theatrical cutter on the same costumes. They enjoy artsy, eclectic lifestyles. Jason Frayn is a dairy farm herdsman in Agassiz, British Columbia, and his wife, Tammy, is a homemaker and volunteer with their church. They have strong Christian beliefs. The Schlichting's didn't want to trade with a religious family and the Frayn's didn't care to go to a large centre. What happens when both couples' fears become their realities?
