The annual opening of Ontario's longest recreational waterway is a cause for celebration, attracting hundreds of spectators. The Trent-Severn waterway, with its many lift locks, including the world's highest hydraulic lock, runs from Port Severn on Georgian Bay to the Bay of Quinte on Lake Ontario. Catering to boaters, campers, sightseers and picnickers, the waterway offers musical, sporting and artistic events throughout the summer season. As well, a Parks Canada floating museum brings glimpses of the past, while at many locations along the route heritage sites invite investigation.
