Judges, defence lawyers and prosecutors, police, parole officers, teachers and students of law enforcement, social agencies that help women: these are the intended audiences of this video. This resource addresses the revictimization of women at the hands of the justice and social systems after these women have already been victims of domestic violence. The video is a consciousness-raising tool about this systematic discrimination and gender bias. Unbalanced Scales helps viewers identify specific policies, procedures, and practices which may appear neutral but which, in actuality, have an adverse impact on women. Finally, it generates suggestions on ways to address this problem.
