A profile of Montréal sculptor Armand Vaillancourt, born in 1929, whose abstract iron works have been much discussed. Vaillancourt works with hammer, axe and cutting torch; a sweltering foundry is his studio. The film features him at work on a commissioned monument, and records some public reaction to it at its first viewing.
