A film that explores the nature of nationalism and patriotism at many levels. It reveals something of the lost feeling of a French-speaking Canadian born and raised in the Canadian West, and of the similar attitude voiced by a Breton patriot angry at France. Between times, the film ventures into the backwoods of Québec to question Indigenous people, loggers, farmers, and fishermen about their sense of homeland. (A French-language film with English voice-over; originally released under the title A Ridiculous Kind of Country.)
