Settled by United Empire Loyalists in the 1820s, Smiths Falls, Ontario, was a railroad town that flourished, in its early years, on a solid base of small-scale industrial development. Now growth has waned and the town lacks sufficient new industry to provide jobs for the town's youth. Mayor Freddie Aboud and his nine town councillors work hard to help solve the town's problems and to keep it running smoothly.
