Contrasting the wealth of Asian raw materials with the poverty of the masses, this film takes a look at the rise of nationalist movements in Asia through the eyes of the United States and Canada during the fifth year of World War II. Japan prepares for the outcome of the war by supporting Asian self-determination; India as well, under Ghandi's leadership, demands an end to Western rule in Asia; while China under Sun Yat-sen fights to avoid Japanese conquest.
