Produced by the NFB in association with Judy Haiven and Investigative Productions Inc. and with the financial assistance of Primate's World Relief and Development Fund, the Anglican Church of Canada, OXFAM Canada, CBC Regina, Alberta Culture, Film and Literary Arts Branch, Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace, and the United Church of Canada, Division of World Outreach.

An inspiring film about sixteen Canadian farmers who, in January, 1985, journeyed to Rivas, Nicaragua, to help fellow farmers rebuild equipment and farms that had been ravaged by civil war. The trip was financed by a unique fund-raising drive organized by farmers in western Canada. Among the formal agencies that contributed to the project were OXFAM, the Mennonite Central Committee, CIDA, and the Alberta government. The film highlights the ingenuity for which farmers are famous. As well, it is an excellent introduction both to some of the realities faced by people in war-torn Third World countries and to an effective model of developmental aid.
