Canada has the second highest rate of opioid use in the world, trailing only the US. It’s no surprise, then, that drug overdose fatalities are at critical levels — in British Columbia, for example, they are the leading cause of unnatural death, outnumbering car crashes. In response, new federal legislation has made it easier to open supervised drug-injection sites in cities across Canada, building on the legacy of Insite, which has been operating in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside since 2003.
Insite Inside is a 360° video that takes viewers into the rooms of Insite so they can understand how such facilities operate and what they offer people suffering from addiction.
