Main Street is real. Danny Singer has been there.

Most of the towns he photographs are a couple of miles off major highways and usually missed by passing travellers. For Singer turning into these small prairie towns is about getting to explore the social, cultural, and commercial centres of these communities.

He knows many of these towns have uncertain futures but is often struck by the concise, linear nature of these matured rural front streets, which still manage to suggest possibilities for renewal, reinvention and growth.

He constructs his works by carefully stitching together hundreds of individual exposures with digital editing software. The resulting compositions—which can be as much as 10 feet in length—emerge as an all-inclusive, seamless prospect which has a unique “floating-point” perspective.
