In the words of Yves Sioui Durand, te’skennongweronne is “an old ceremonial and ritual saying to honour and thank someone. The meaning of ‘come again’ is: I come to you because I remember. I have kept that memory of ‘how it should be done,’ but more importantly, I do and do again what has been passed down to me; that which forges ties from generation to generation—and if I do that, it is thanks to you. By honouring and thanking you, I too am forging the ties that ‘make us who we are.’”
